Morgan Ambassadors
The MHAA Ambassador Program connects professional and influential equestrians with the broader equestrian community in order to inspire and promote Morgan Horse ownership.
Our MHAA Official Ambassadors create an exciting avenue to maximise the scope of the Morgan message.
Isabel Widdison
Isabel knew about the Morgan breed when she was a horse crazy child reading the famous book Justin Morgan had a horse (or anything else horsey she could get her hands on). However, it wasn’t until later in life (2007) when by chance she rented a room from Sandi Frolich that the breed was to become such a significant part of her life. There was a keen shared interest in horses and many a discussion around the wonderful Morgan horses Helga Frolich was breeding down in Jindabyne.
Isabel was lucky enough to be offered the lovely purebred gelding Red Bluff Tareasure shortly after he had been started to ride and then campaign at the Australian National Morgan Show held in Jindabyne in 2009. Since then, Isabel has ridden or presented horses at a number of shows including Moonbah Fortunate One (Queanbeyan show), Moonbah Ridge Kaybee (Toowomba ANMS), Omar Reinzi (Mallala ANMS), Moonbah Ridge Keiki (Elmore ANMS), and Weemala Cougar (Young and Tatura ANMS).
Isabel has fallen in love with the breed and in conjunction with Sandi Frolich now owns and runs Weemala Performance Horses, breeding part bred Morgans and a few pure, promoting them in the performance field and generally just enjoying their company. The main focus for Weemala’s breeding program is to produce quality performance horses that anyone can ride and excel on. What could be better than incorporating the Morgan horse into this program.
Be it eventing, dressage, showjumping, ARC, trail riding or even the show ring we take pride in presenting our horses and promoting how wonderful the Morgan breed is. Isabel had 2 lovely performance partbreds by their resident stallion Moonbah Fortune Cookie, however after tragically losing one, Weemala Zodiac her main performance horse is now Weemala Cougar, an eye-catching black mare, who with Isabel on board has jumped successfully up to 1.1m, is eventing at Eva95 level and competing at Novice dressage.
Isabel and the Weemala stud have a number of young Morgan stock that will be started in the future and continue to promote the breed with their performance.
Linda Shore
Linda was introduced to the nature of the Morgan horse in late 2004 when Greg and Kathy Lyons of Wilga Park Morgans engaged her to start their Morgan gelding, Mt Tawonga Oscar.
One year later Greg and Kath imported the buckskin stallion, RanchBoss Cortez. Greg had been so impressed with the start that Oscar had been given that he approached Linda to train and campaign his beloved stallion. One ride on Cortez and Linda was more than willing to take on the challenge.
Thus, began a love story … Linda’s love of Morgans, but in particular, her love of this amazing buckskin stallion. Linda and Cortez became a team to watch out for at many Equestrian events. She had taken on the promotion of the Morgan breed with zeal. Cortez was Linda’s ‘Fun Horse’. Whatever crazy scheme Greg and Linda came up with to show off the Morgan breed, Cortez was a willing and capable partner. They became celebrities with their bridle-less demonstrations at many and varied events.
The journey had begun. Linda purchased her very own part-bred mare, Boulevard Gabrielle. Linda was rarely at a show or event without a Morgan horse in hand or under saddle. She’d fallen in love with the temperament of the Morgan horse and enjoyed showing them off to the Australian public. She particularly loved working with the stallions RanchBoss Cortez, Wirraway Copyrite and Baptiste Levis Strauss.
Be it English Dressage, Western Dressage, Working Equitation or in the Show Ring, Linda on a Morgan horse is lovely to watch and more times than not, in the ribbons. Over the years Linda has collected many Champion and Supreme Champion ribbons with a Morgan horse for their owners.
Today, Boulevard Gabrielle and Linda dominate the Working Equitation competition scene at Masters level. She is promoting the Morgan breed as she competes as she is always fielding the same question, “What is the breed of your amazing mare?”
Linda was a Presenter of Western Dressage at Equitation Sydney 2013 and her choice of presentation horses were Morgans, Red Bluff Tantalus and Ranchboss Cortez. Linda also joined Wayne Hipsley in his presentations at Equitana, on a Morgan horse. As she was also representing the Morgan breed in the Breed Village, she had four very busy days.
Linda was again at Equitana Melbourne, in 2014 with a Morgan as her riding horse. When she travelled interstate to run clinics, she would somehow always manage to find a local Morgan horse as her mount.
Linda has been an official Ambassador for the Morgan Horse Association of Australia for two years now; a role she embraces with enthusiasm and pride.
Linda, her two Morgans, and any others she comes in contact with, will continue the promotion of the Morgan breed for years to come.
